Summary
The particular problems associated with the experimental analysis of the propagation of pressure waves are addressed and measurements obtained on a long shock tube (the STARLET facility) are presented. It was possible to show the effects of the unsteady friction on pressure waves travelling in a tunnel at scale 1/50. The transition of the flow from a laminar to a turbulent state plays an important role on the shape of the pressure profiles recorded in the tube. The use of wavelets for filtering the experimental data has given particularly good results.
