Abstract

This chapter contains the basic facts concerning mathematical models of stressed elastic bodies and the asymptotic method of homogenization as applied to elastic solids of a periodic structure. Before formulating the basic problem concerning the mechanics of stressed composites, let us turn to a short survey of the theoretical works for stressed composite materials.
