Abstract

In many cases of interaction of waves with obstacles, the kinematic parameters that characterize a displacement of the body’s center of mass are of major interest. According to such a statement, we may often neglect the body’s elasticity and consider it to be perfectly rigid. At that, as we shall demonstrate below, we obtain a coupled problem too, but in this case, the problem turns out to be significantly simpler, since the equations of motion of the obstacle are the ordinary differential equations of motion of a system with a finite number of degrees of freedom (in particular, we can obtain one equation).
