Abstract
Experimental results are presented for the counterion dependence of the adsorption of alkali decyl sulfates (Li+>, Na+>, K+>, Rb+> and Cs+>) at the air/solution interface. The experimental adsorption isotherms calculated from equilibrium surface tension/concentration data by means of the Gibbs equation show significant counterion dependence. A new, very efficient and simple method is also proposed for the preparation of surface chemically pure surfactant solutions.
