Summary
We present and use a method of receptivity analysis called the equivalent forcing model to both disclose reasons for the performance shortfall in conventional surface suction designs, and to construct a high-performance perforation pattern for LFC. The equivalent forcing model and the pattern construction revolves around the value of the Fourier-transformed function of the geometry in the neighborhood of the wavenumbers of an unstable eigenmode of relevance, which we chose as a steady crossflow mode in a 3D boundary layer.
