Abstract
This chapter describes the overall SEMPER architecture at a technical level. We assume that the reader is familiar with the overview given in Chapter 2. First, we briefly review the underlying model of deals, transfers and exchanges, and discuss security requirements and other concepts that influence the overall design. Next, we describe the layers of the service architecture in more detail by breaking each layer down into several service blocks. We then present important aspects of the implementation architecture, i.e., our general rules for realizing these blocks in software. Finally, we describe the actual Java prototype.
