Abstract
Initiated by technical investigations in the 1940s and started as an industry in the late 1960s, CMOS technology has distinguished itself by the rapid improvements in its products. In a four-decade history, most of the figures of merit of the Si industry have been marked by exponential growth, principally as a result of the ability to exponentially decrease the minimum feature sizes of integrated circuits (ICs). As of today, the development of devices and processors appears to stand and possibly even overshoot Moore’s law.
