Parametric Solitons in Passive Structures with Feedback

  • Chapter
Spatial Solitons

Part of the book series: Springer Series in Optical Sciences ((SSOS,volume 82))

Summary

This chapter is aimed at reviewing our understanding of localization phenomena in passive feedback structures with quadratic nonlinearities. We analyze first feedback due to passive resonantors, discussing the existence, stability, and control of solitons in the transverse plane of optical parametric oscillators and intracavity second-harmonic generation. Then, we consider briefly the case of Bragg gratings responsible for distributed feedback, revealing the existence of new types of longitudinally localized two-color gap solitons.
