Abstract
The purpose of this section is to give a mathematical introduction into the problem of the simulation of mechanical properties of heterogeneous solids with periodic microstructures. The averaging procedure for mechanical fields, the definitions for effective constitutive parameters (effective elastic moduli, for instance) and for corresponding homogenized equations will be described in Section 1.
