Abstract

In this paper, we describe the model and the MPEG-4 based implementation of a novel system for authoring and consuming fine-granularity personalized broadcast content (AdaptiveContent) through a mechanism termed ContentMorphing. ContentMorphing allows arbitrarily fine granularity personalization at the user end, from conventional program-by-program selection to the thus far impossible minute-by-minute granularities. The personalization can be automatic based on specific end-user preferences and profiles without requiring bi-directional communication or awkward user intervention and eliminates the head-end scalability issues.
