Efficient harmonic conversion of the few well developed solid state laser sources is now an established technology. For example, efficient frequency conversion of Nd:YAG laser to the second, third and fourth harmonic in KD*P crystals is a reliable and commercial technology introduced by Quanta Ray in 1976,
