Abstract

In the following chapter the concept of laser-induced dynamic gratings is introduced. It is then described how dynamic gratings are produced and detected experimentally. Grating excitation mechanisms in various materials are surveyed and the importance of dynamic gratings in four-wave mixing and light-scattering experiments is explained. Further applications in holography and phase conjugation are briefly summarized.
