13.6 Conclusions

The performance of four turbulence models has been tested on the AS28 configuration with two types of WBC (low Reynolds — MF — and wall functions — WF), for a Mach number of 0.8 and a Reynolds number of 10.2 106.

The following conclusions can be drawn:

  • Wall function calculations seem to significantly reduce the discrepancies between the models.

  • The k-ω type models give C1 results nearly independent of the wall treatment. Opposite, they are very sensitive to the boundary condition as far as Cd is concerned.

  • The Spalart-Allmaras model gives globally the best results, with a reasonable computing effort.
