Abstract
AnLDA system for in-cylinder gas velocity measurements in engines is described. The special feature of this instrument is the use of photon correlation processing in measurements with high repetition rate. Velocity values can be taken continously with a repetition rate up to 20 kHz. The data is stored in a mini computer and evaluated afterwards.
In-cylinder measurements in a motored diesel research engine have been done. Accurate single cycle measurements were obtained in consecutive engine cycles. Both cycle-to-cycle variations and turbulence could be observed in the gas flow and separated from each other.
