Modification at the Reconstruction in Holographic Interferometry

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Springer Series in Optical Sciences ((SSOS,volume 46))

Abstract

We have already discussed in detail the modification of the optical arrangement at reconstruction which caused deformations and aberrations of the images for single exposures in holography. Such modifications may also influence the formation of a fringe pattern in holographic interferometry. First, we shall look at some cases of interest where only one reference source and one hologram are used as in the standard set-up. In this limited case, we cannot act on both wave fields simultaneously and independently. Secondly, we shall pass to the more relevant modifications where either two reference sources or two holograms are involved. There, each wave field will be modified at the same time in a different way, but in ways which are convenient for our purposes, so that alternative measurement techniques are provided which differ from those described in Chap. 4.
