Abstract

The problem of 3-D visualization of biomedical objects attracts an increasing attention of medical specialists, especially for studies of the size, localization, and shape of pathological structures. The analysis of these parameters from plane images is rather difficult and requires some experience and high qualification of the investigator. In many cases, especially when using a penetrating type of radiation an inadequate image interpretation is possible. Stereoscopic and holographic techniques are advanced methods of volume representation. The traditional stereoscopy is a sufficiently simple and cheap method but does not produce full spatial visual illusion because the observation area is limited and parallaxes do not change when a viewer moves his head. Multiperspective lenticular and integral photographic systems reproduce scenes with changeable parallax but the corresponding production technology is complicated and not worked out enough.
