Abstract

For many years there has been much attention given to the treatment of the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with three-level systems. Theoretical calculations have considered homogeneous and inhomogeneous systems [1–6] in both folded and cascade configurations and experimental data have been obtained in atomic beams [7] and gas cells [8,9]. In this paper, we present high resolution experimental studies of the interaction of two laser fields with a folded Doppler broadened system in I2.
