Zusammenfassung

Dieses Kapitel stellt die manualtherapeutische Untersuchung und Behandlung des Ellbogens, der Hand und der Finger dar. Der Schwerpunkt liegt im Rahmen dieses Buches darauf, strukturelle Defizite und Läsionen der Gelenke, der Muskeln oder peripheren Nerven zu identifizieren und zu behandeln, somit also betont im Bereich der Körperstrukturen und -funktionen. Dies geschieht auf der Grundlage fundierter Kenntnisse der Anatomie und Biomechanik, die ebenfalls dargestellt werden. Da die strukturelle, aber vor allem auch die funktionelle Diagnostik und Therapie der oberen Extremität immer im Zusammenhang mit der (Hals-)Wirbelsäule und dem neuralen System erfolgen muss, werden diese Bereiche in einem notwendigen Maße in die Überlegungen mit einbezogen. Die qualifizierte Behandlung der betroffenen Körperstrukturen und -funktionen schafft in vielen Fällen die Voraussetzung für ein erfolgreiches Training eingeschränkter Aktivitäten und somit einer eingeschränkten Teilhabe.
