Abstract
Contact imaging was briefly reviewed two years ago [29.1]. Important developments since then have occurred in two main areas. New submicrosecond flash soft x-ray sources have provided the first suboptical images of a living cell; and improved techniques of specimen preparation are yielding higher quality images of biological material than were previously obtainable. We will give examples from both these areas.
