Part of the Lecture Notes in Mathematics book series (LNM, volume 304)

It is well known that, in general, inverse limits do not exist in the homotopy category of spaces. In this chapter we will, however:
  1. (i)

    (i) discuss a notion of homotopy inverse limits which gets around this difficulty, and

  2. (ii)

(ii) show that, up to homotopy, the R-completion of Part I of these notes can be considered as such a homotopy inverse limit.
