Bei Brustwandtumoren handelt es sich in 39% der Fälle um primär maligne Tumoren, in 35% um primäre benigne Tumoren und in 26% der Fälle um sekundäre Tumoren wie Metastasen (⊡ Abb. 11.1). An benignen Tumoren treten Hauttumoren, Fibrome und Lipome, Neurofibrome, fibröse Dysplasie, Chondrome und Osteochondrome auf. Differenzialdiagnostisch ist an die etwas häufiger vorkommenden malignen Tumoren zu denken. Hierbei stehen Hauttumoren, Chondrosarkome, Weichteilsarkome und Knochentumoren im Vordergrund (⊡ Tab. 11.1). Zu den sekundären Brustwandtumoren zählen Metastasen von Nieren-, Prostata-, Schilddrüsen- und Mammakarzinomen, lokoregionäre Rezidive von Mammakarzinomen und die Thoraxwandinfiltration durch Bronchialkarzinome.
