Aus dem N. ischiadicus, dem längsten und dicksten Nerv des menschlichen Körpers, entstammen die Nn. fibularis und tibialis, deren Anteile schon im Stammgebiet topographisch getrennt, aber bis zum Knie von einem gemeinsamen Epineurium umgeben sind.
