Abstract
The decision to write a book on gene-enzyme systems in Drosophila grew out of a conviction that systems which are well-defined both genetically and biochemically have been and will continue to be useful in approaching a wide variety of problems, particularly relative to the organization, function and regulation of the eukaryotic genome. At the same time, our own experience indicated that the literature on such well-defined gene-enzyme systems is widely scattered and not easily accessible. We felt it would be useful to bring together and summarize a substantial proportion of this work. The present book is the result.
