Abstract
This paper deals with a general approach to rate-independent processes, which may have hysteretic behaviour. Such processes play an important role in mechanics, engineering and arises whenever the systems under consideration excited quasistatically. This approach is based on an energy functional I(t, ·) and a dissipation functional Δ. We study the upper and lower semicontinuity of a stable set for (I ε, Δ), ε ≥ 0, and the uniqueness question.
