Abstract

The mechanical self-excited oscillations in elastic systems are such that the cycle of self-excited oscillations is clearly split into two parts, namely the part of contact and the part of relative sliding. The first part can also be referred to as staying at rest. However we do not use this notation since this part is associated with a small relative displacement, see Chapter 7 for details.
