Zusammenfassung

Opiate und deren teilweise synthetischen Derivate gehören zu den ältesten medizinisch eingesetzten Substanzen. Ihre vielfältigen Effekte wurden schon immer sowohl medizinisch als auch missbräuchlich genutzt. Medizinisch wurden Opiate seit langem analgetisch und in neuerer Zeit auch narkotisch genutzt. Der Missbrauch ist gekennzeichnet durch die berauschende, sedierende Wirkung der Opioide.
