Zusammenfassung
Die Entwicklung psychotherapeutischer Behandlungsverfahren verlief bekanntermaßen weitestgehend schulenspezifisch. Moderne Lehrbücher werden dieser Tatsache dadurch gerecht, dass die einzelnen Therapieschulen im Hinblick auf ihre theoretischen Grundlagen und ihre spezifischen Interventionsmethoden in separaten Kapiteln dargestellt werden (▸ Kap. 1–3). Bereits in den 1930er Jahren gab es aber erste Bemühungen, theoretische Konzepte und praktische Konsequenzen verschiedener Therapieschulen — damals Konzepte der Psychoanalyse und die klassische Konditionierung — aufeinander zu beziehen und zu integrieren (Goldfried et al. 2005). Auch wenn diese Bemühungen wenig Aufmerksamkeit auf sich zogen und bis in die 1970er Jahre die Entwicklung integrativer Therapieansätze weiterhin eher ein Randthema war, so kann doch spätestens für die 1990er Jahre ein breites wissenschaftliches Interesse für Psychotherapieintegration konstatiert werden. Zu dieser Entwicklung trugen maßZu dieser Entwicklung trugen maßgeblich das Erscheinen der ersten Auflage des Handbook of Psychotherapy Integration (Norcross u. Goldfried 1992), das Erscheinen der Zeitschrift en Journal of Psychotherapy Integration sowie für den deutschsprachigen Raum Integrative Therapie bei und schließlich die internationale Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI).
