Abstract

Differential Algebra and Symbolic Integration. The main objects of investigation in differential algebra are symbolic ordinary differential equations of the form f(y (n),...,y′, y, x) = 0, where n is the order of the differential equation, x is the independent variable, f is some “nice” function that can be described in algebraic terms, and y is a unary function in the independent variable x.
