Abstract

This paper describes the automation of a CBIR method based on image description by “motif co-occurrence matrix” (MCM). Motifs in that case refer to an optimal Peano scan of the picture. A prior segmentation into regions based on MCM by blocks of adapted size is shown to compete with the human region finding. Retrieval from the regions’ MCM vector becomes then comparable for man and machine. Results on precision and recall support method comparison.
