Abstract
In this paper a family of novel streaming video delivery schemes is presented. These schemes are designed for next-generation mobile communication networks and attempt to minimize uplink communications whilst smoothing downlink capacity requirements.
These schemes are based on the concept of a Feedforward Constant Delivery System. For a variety of streaming video datasets and appropriate model data we show how these systems can achieve excellent QoS with minimal uplink packet transmission. We go on to show how the scheme can be improved upon by introducing a Mean Deviation Ratio Threshold and a Buffer Occupancy Cost Function.
