Abstract
The present research aims to simulate numerically the interference of a transverse slot jet in a hypersonic flow field and to identify the extent to which lateral venting affects the flow features observed. Two and three-dimensional simulations are carried out, and the results compared to see how the observed flow features differ. A comparison was also made between the separation lengths and pressure distributions in the computational cases and previous experimental results. It was found that the computational results (in both two and three-dimensions) showed the major flow features associated with a hypersonic transverse jet interaction and that lateral venting of the flow field greatly affected the extent of these features.
