Abstract
Graph grammars and graph rewriting systems are not at all a new invention. They may be traced back to the fundamental work of John Pfaltz and Hans-Jürgen Schneider, who introduced them independently of each other around 1969. Since, the field has evolved into an established discipline, whose results have been documented in numerous books, journal articles, and proceedings of international workshops and conferences.
