Abstract
The Internet is one of the driving forces for the resent third wave of globalization. At least in the public debate the importance of the Internet seams to bee a sort of common wisdom. Even if plenty of anecdotes seem to back this postulate there is almost no empirical study analysing this proposition extensively. Therefore, this contribution is an important benchmark for getting a better insight into the real effects of the Internet on global market integration.
