Abstract

The great advancement of information technology has been one of the major driving forces of rapid change and innovation in the financial services sector since the 1980s. These changes include not only the creation of new products but also changes in the delivery and distribution channels of the financial products traded. As well, the electronic marketing of financial services and electronic payment and settlement of financial transactions are widely used with the resulting enhancement of economic efficiency. In this broad sense, information technology is surely affecting the perspectives of the financial services sector in major markets around the world and influencing global economic activities as well.
