Abstract

The previous chapters have shown that significant change is possible for scientific knowledge infrastructures. Nevertheless, many practical obstacles may remain for the evolution of scientific knowledge infrastructures. Current technology lacks maturity; the scientific community may be unwilling to adapt. Moreover, some opportunities for leveraging information technology and some of its impacts may have been overlooked.
