Abstract

Recently, emerging high performance applications require the ability to exploit diverse, geographically distributed resources, specifically, in a Grid environment. A collection of software, called the Globus grid toolkit, is developed to address related drawbacks. In this paper, we describe an application (we call it Distributed Media Service System, DMSS for short) developed in this toolkit: we present the features and physical infrastructure of the goal system, the effectiveness of the toolkit approach, our heuristic enhancements, and draw a conclusion regarding future work.
