Zusammenfassung

Eine neue Aufwertung der Kontingenz in der politischen Theorie ist im deutschsprachigen Kontext nicht zuletzt ein Verdienst von Michael Th. Greven (1999, 2000). Diese Aufwertung hat bestimmte rhetorische Voraussetzungen. Ein rhetorisches Umschreiben von Begriffen, wie man sie nach dem klassischen Schema paradiastole betreibt, bedeutet – wie vor allem Quentin Skinner betont hat – zugleich die Möglichkeit ihrer Auf- und Abwertung (Skinner 1996, Kap. 4; Skinner 1999).
