Zusammenfassung

Mehr als zehn Jahre sind inzwischen vergangen seit Niklas Luhmanns Tod und der Publikation seines opus magnum: Die Gesellschaft der Gesellschaft(Luhmann 1997). Es mag noch zu früh sein, um die Reichweite und Nachhaltigkeit des Einflusses seiner Theorie sozialer Systeme (im Folgenden TSS) einzuschätzen, aber ein kurzer Blick auf die zeitgenössischen und am meisten diskutierten Strömungen im Bereich der soziologischen Theorie suggeriert, dass Luhmanns Beiträge wenig wahrgenommen, verstanden und in die soziologische Kommunikation eingeführt werden. Über diese Einschätzung kann natürlich gestritten werden. Es ist beispielsweise schwer einzuschätzen, ob die Existenz einer auf TSS fokussierten Zeitschrift ein Zeichen für ihre wachsende Bedeutung oder für ihre Isolierung ist.
