Zusammenfassung
Seit einiger Zeit wird in der Philosophie der Mathematik ein Logo- und Skriptozentrismus diagnostiziert und gegen ihn gestritten (z. B. Giardino 2010). Als Alternative wird eine Anerkennung der Pluralität mathematischen Denkens gefordert, eine verstärkte Beschäftigung mit dem bunten Strauß an Formen, Varianten und Formaten, in denen mathematisches Denken stattfindet. Ein wichtiger Teil dieser Neupositionierung ist die Anerkennung und Untersuchung der Rolle von Diagrammen und Gesten in mathematischem Denken. Das Plädoyer für eine Pluralisierung der Philosophie der Mathematik kann als Kritik am einflussreichen axiomatischen Paradigma der Mathematik, wie es im ausgehenden 19. Jahrhundert von Pasch und Hilbert begründet wurde, gelesen werden. Für Pasch und Hilbert galt, dass genuine mathematische Argumentation einzig aufgrund begrifflicher Beziehungen geschehen dürfte, die angemessen darzustellen allein schriftliche Notationen in der Lage wären.
