Zusammenfassung
Die Geschichtswissenschaft etablierte sich im 19. Jahrhundert als ein akademisches Fach, das sein Augenmerk bevorzugt auf politische Ereignisse legte, zum Beispiel Kriege und Revolutionen, oder auf die Ideen und Taten ›großer Männer‹ von Julius Cäsar bis Otto von Bismarck. Im 20. Jahrhundert hat sich der disziplinäre Horizont bekanntlich erweitert. Neben die klassischen Zugänge sind etwa die Sozialgeschichte getreten, welche nach sozioökonomischen Strukturen und Prozesse fragt, sowie später die Neue Kulturgeschichte.
