Zusammenfassung
Im wirtschaftlichen Alltag ist Geld allgegenwärtig. In der Mikroökonomie, dem Kern der Wirtschaftstheorie, ist es demgegenüber abwesend. Diese merkwürdige Konstellation versuche ich in diesem Beitrag auf die zu weit gehenden Rationalitätsannahmen in der Neoklassik zurückzuführen. Wenn die dort postulierte Form von perfekt informiertem, rationalem Handeln möglich wäre, könnten wir unsere wirtschaftlichen Koordinationsprobleme in der Tat ohne Geld lösen. Zu einer angemesseneren Gelderklärung kommt man demgegenüber dann, wenn man von in Interaktionen generierter Unsicherheit ausgeht und Geld als Mittel der Unsicherheitsabsorption versteht. Diese Theorielage wirft die Frage auf, inwieweit der Geldgebrauch sich allein aus rationalem Handeln erklären lässt. Die Prüfung des Zusammenhangs von Geldgebrauch und Rationalität zeigt: Geldbenutzer kommen nicht ohne eine Art von Glaubenskomponente aus – oder vielleicht besser: Der Geldgebrauch erfordert die Suspension von Unglauben.
