Zusammenfassung

In der aktuellen Weltwirtschaftskrise zögerten die Regierungen der Industrieländer nicht lange, die drohende Kernschmelze des Finanzsystems mit milliardenschweren Garantien und teilweisen Verstaatlichungen von Banken abzuwenden. Außerdem setzten alle auf staatliche Konjunkturprogramme, um die Krise der Realwirtschaft einzudämmen und einer Massenarbeitslosigkeit entgegenzuwirken. Damit befolgen sie die Lehren aus der Weltwirtschaftskrise der 1930er Jahre, die am prägnantesten von John Maynard Keynes formuliert wurden. Seine „Allgemeine Theorie“ des Wirtschaftskreislaufs von 1936 hatte die inhärente Krisenanfälligkeit kapitalistischer Marktwirtschaften aufgedeckt und den Staat in die Rolle des Systemstabilisators eingesetzt.
