Abstract

Starting with the basic concepts of social capital by Bourdieu and Coleman (Chapter 2) we define social capital as a property of relationships. It is a resource actors can use and benefit from. This basic definition is also agreed on by Putnam (Chapter 3), Burt (Chapter 4) and Lin (Chapter 5).
