Abstract

From the moment we first awake each morning, our senses are assaulted by the outside world. Even before we leave our beds, we hear the buzz of the alarm clock and see a golden shaft of sunlight peeking through the bedroom curtains. As we move throughout the day, we continue to experience the sights and sounds – not to mention the tastes and smells – of the world around us.

This article draws heavily on the material presented in Kind 2003.
