Zusammenfassung
Ein an kriegerischen Akten unbeteiligter Raum ist der Weltraum schon lange nicht mehr: Die terrestrische Kriegsführung greift bereits seit Jahrzehnten auf weltraumbasierte Aufklärungs-, Kommunikations- und Navigationsfähigkeiten zurück. Auch ist zumindest die Möglichkeit der Kriegsführung durch den Weltraum hindurch (indem Raketen auf ihrer Flugbahn zeitweise die Atmosphäre verlassen) fester Bestandteil sicherheitspolitischer Kalküle. In den Weltraum hinein wurde der Krieg jedoch nicht getragen: Die gegen Weltraumziele gerichtete Kriegsführung hat bislang ebenso wenig stattgefunden wie der Einsatz im Weltraum stationierter Waffen gegen terrestrische Ziele.
