Die Links-Rechts-Dimension in Mittel- und Osteuropa: „Super-Issue“ oder bedeutungslos?

Zusammenfassung

Ideologien sind Heuristiken, die es Bürgern ermöglichen (sollen), auch unter den Bedingungen unvollständiger Information und begrenzter Informationsverarbeitungskapazitäten rationale, das heißt an Politikpräferenzen orientierte Entscheidungen zu treffen (siehe z.B. Downs 1968; Sniderman et al. 1991: 19). In diesem Sinne lässt sich die ideologische Einstellung auch als „Super-Issue“ konzeptualisieren (siehe hierzu z.B. Inglehart/Klingemann 1976: 244), die sich dadurch auszeichnet, dass sie die Haltung gegenüber einer Vielzahl von spezifischen politischen Fragen strukturiert. Prominentestes Beispiel in Westeuropa ist die Links-Rechts-Dimension. Vergleichende Studien haben gezeigt, dass sich die Mehrzahl der relevanten politischen Streitfragen durch die Links-Rechts-Dimension abbilden lässt (siehe z.B. Warwick 2002).
