Zusammenfassung
Projekte der Sozialarbeit, die im Kontext der HIV/AIDS-Epidemie in Afrika etabliert werden, verdeutlichen in exemplarischer Weise die Probleme und Dilemmata, mit denen sich internationale Sozialarbeit heute generell konfrontiert sieht. Wie Mel Gray (2005) betont, ist Sozialarbeit in postkolonialen Zusammenhängen und im Kontext von Globalisierung nicht nur vom potentiellen Vorwurf betroffen, an der Etablierung imperialistischer und neo-kolonialer Strukturen mitzuwirken. Auch stellt sich die Frage, wie das Postulat einer kulturell angepassten Sozialarbeit in den Ländern des Südens mit dem Anspruch universeller Wertvorgaben und Arbeitsprinzipien in diesem Wirkungsbereich sinnvoll zu vereinbaren ist.
