Zusammenfassung

Organisation ist eines der Hauptkennzeichen akademischer Berufe. Die Definition einer Profession als sich selbst organisierende „Bruderschaft“, die Abraham Fletcher 1915 in einer Rede an die US-amerikanische National Conference of Charities and Correction vornahm, mag dabei veraltet erscheinen (Popple 1995). Und doch haben sich nur wenige Jahre nach dem Beginn der ersten Ausbildungen für Soziale Arbeit in Europa und Nordamerika SozialarbeiterInnen und andere an Wohlfahrtsfragen Interessierte zu fachlichen Treffen zusammen gefunden und begonnen, sich zu organisieren. Daraus entstanden die heutigen drei internationalen Hauptorganisationen im Bereich Sozialer Arbeit und Wohlfahrt.
