Zusammenfassung

Medien nutzen das Thema Think Positivehäufig um zu suggerieren, dass Erfolg leicht zu erreichen ist, zwischenmenschliche Beziehungen problemlos zu knüpfen und beliebig zu erhalten sind und Gesundheit für die Zukunft garantiert werden kann. Doch leider erzielt positives Denken nicht immer den erhofften Erfolg. Daher wirft der vorliegende Beitrag ein differenzierendes Licht auf die Thesen des Think PositiveAnsatzes. Zunächst beschreiben wir zwei verschiedene Formen des positiven Zukunftsdenkens: Erwartungen und Zukunftsphantasien, die unterschiedliche Konsequenzen für Anstrengung und Erfolg haben. Danach gehen wir auf die Selbstregulationsstrategie des mentalen Kontrastierens von Zukunft und Realität ein und stellen dar, wie diese Strategie kluges Zielsetzen und Zielstreben fördert. Schließlich beschreiben wir Forschung, die die Prinzipien des mentalen Kontrastierens für die Etablierung von Interventionen nutzt. Im Rahmen dieser Interventionen lernen Personen wie sie auf kluge Weise persönliche Ziele setzen und diese planend verfolgen können ohne dass sie auf die Hilfe eines Therapeuten oder eines Coaches zurückgreifen müssen. Wir enden den Beitrag mit Reflexionen über die Bedeutung von solchen meta-kognitiven Interventionsmethoden.
