In diesem Beitrag stellen wir eine auf bibliografischen Daten basierende Untersuchungsmethode vor, die zur Betrachtung von Organisationskonzepten genutzt werden kann. Organisationskonzepte sollen hier als normative, mehr oder weniger kohärente Auffassungen von Management definiert werden. Solche Gestaltungsvorgaben zur Organisation von Unternehmen werden von Akademikern, „Managementgurus“ oder Unternehmensberatern geschaffen; genutzt bzw. konsumiert werden sie von Managern. Oft erfahren Organisationskonzepte beachtliche Aufmerksamkeit in der Fachpresse, die eine Welle von Projekten zu ihrer Umsetzung in Unternehmen nach sich zieht. Allerdings ist diese Popularität meist von beschränkter Dauer und das öffentliche Interesse kann so schnell abklingen, wie es entstanden ist. Die Ähnlichkeit dieses Prozesses mit ästhetischen Moden hat Wissenschaftler dazu bewogen solche Phänomene als „Managementmoden“ zu konzipieren. Zu den bekanntesten Managementmoden der 1990er Jahre zählen Lean Production (LP) und Business Process Reengineering (BPR).
